We are a British family & we moved to France almost 3 years ago for a different life & a complete change of scenery. We have three children; our son Oscar is 8 & our younger daughter, Dulcie is 15 & they both attend French schools & are putting us to shame with their fluent French. Our eldest daughter, Abbie is 18 & is in her last year of school in Devon & back here in the holidays. We love the laid back lifestyle, the friendly, warm people & the beautiful unspoilt countryside. The delicious French food & wine only adds to the allure. 

2008 was our first full season & we met some lovely guests, many of whom have booked to return....which must bode well! We had a pair of Kestrels nesting on this front of Barn Owl gite (obviously they couldn't read) & they raised a brood of four young which we proudly showed off to anyone who was even slightly interested. They returned last year (June 2009) & hatched 4 more eggs & once again we witnessed their maiden flights (& assisted the one who didn't make it; popped him back in the nest & 2nd go, he was away)......

We also raised four baby orphan hedgehogs in 2008; they spent several weeks in a pen in the garden until they were big enough to be released & visiting children loved to watch them. We sometimes now see the adults, who must be helping with keeping the slugs & snails out of the veg garden.

In Autumn 2009 we got chickens! They are totally free range & whilst we do have the occasional mishap with someone walking in chicken poop: the pay off is that we have the most fantastic, delicious free range eggs every day. Oscar manages the hens & his egg business is keeping him in pocket money.
